Talents Quest is hiring a dedicated Healthcare Assistant – Theatres for a leading surgical centre in Marylebone, London (W1U 2EU). This full-time role offers an exciting opportunity to support peri-operative patient care within a professional theatre environment.
As a Healthcare Assistant, you will work closely with Registered Nurses and Operating Department Practitioners (ODPs) to deliver safe, efficient, and compassionate care across pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative stages. You will assist in patient preparation and recovery, maintain theatre cleanliness, support infection prevention procedures, manage stock control, and ensure accurate documentation.
This position is ideal for experienced healthcare professionals who are patient-focused, adaptable, and confident working in fast-paced surgical settings. Assist in implementing agreed care plans
Prepare patients for theatre procedures
Support safe patient handling and transfers
Provide reassurance and compassionate communication
Assist with post-operative recovery tasks
Maintain theatre cleanliness and hygiene standards
Follow infection prevention and control guidelines
Assist with theatre room turnaround between procedures
Dispose of clinical waste safely
Perform delegated clinical observations and basic procedures
Assist with skin preparation and specimen handling
Support scrub and circulating teams
Act as runner between sterile and non-sterile areas
Maintain accurate patient records
Participate in safety briefings and theatre meetings
Escalate concerns to senior staff promptly
Uphold equality and diversity standards
Monitor and replenish consumables
Record item usage for revenue capture
Check equipment and report faults
GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English
NVQ Level 3 in Healthcare (or Care Certificate equivalent)
Minimum 2 years’ experience in a healthcare setting
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Ability to work under pressure in clinical environments
IT literacy and confidence using clinical systems
Previous theatre experience
Knowledge of orthopaedic or spinal procedures
Competency sign-off for delegated clinical tasks
Advanced IT skills
